Solidsport enters further partnerships in German basketball and expands the streaming platform Basketball-Stars.TV to become the largest in the German-speaking market.
Solidsport is now the streaming partner of the three largest basketball tournaments in Germany, further developing the livestreaming and video-on-demand platform Basketball-Stars.TV into the largest of its kind in the German-speaking region. No other streaming platform offers basketball fans access to as many high-level youth games and future stars live.
Off-season? Cup season. After the official season ends, the tournament season begins. In June, three internationally recognized and top-tier youth tournaments kick off in Germany. The action starts on June 7 with the traditional Whitsun Tournament in Zehlendorf, Berlin. This is followed on June 14 by the 43rd Minitournament in Göttingen. The season concludes with the PAULBERGER Cup in Leer on June 20. Across these three weekends, well over 2,000 games will be played in 90 venues – and for the first time, all of them will be broadcast live.
Our International Zehlendorf Whitsun Tournament is not only a sporting highlight for the more than 3,000 participants, but also for their families and friends. Through our collaboration with Solidsport, we hope to give those who cannot attend the opportunity to experience the tournament and be part of the action beyond Berlin, says Marcus Gehrmann, Tournament Director of the International Zehlendorf Whitsun Tournament.
These broadcasts are made possible by Solidsport, Europe’s largest sports streaming provider with roots in Sweden. Since 2021, the company has had an office in Hamburg, from where it serves the German-speaking market.
To broadcast such a large number of games from different venues, you need smart production solutions, integrations with on-site administration systems, and a platform capable of presenting large volumes of content in a structured way. We can provide all of these components from a single source, says Henry Blunck, Country Manager DACH at Solidsport.
The basketball tournament in Leer has been successfully working with Solidsport since 2022. For the tournaments in Zehlendorf and Göttingen, 2025 marks the first year of collaboration.
For the 43rd Minitournament, there’s new technology and finally a livestream – so everyone can be part of it, whether at the court or on the couch, says Julian Eisener, board member of Basketball Gemeinschaft von 1974 e.V.
In addition, Solidsport has been a partner of the Easter Tournament in Vienna since 2022, the largest basketball tournament in the German-speaking region. More than 500 teams from around the world travel to the Austrian capital each year for six days to compete internationally, including well over 100 teams from Germany. Fans at home, as well as coaches and players, can watch every moment of the nearly 1,300 games live and on demand. This service has become an integral part of the tournament, which is why the partnership was recently extended for several more years.
For me as an organizer, Solidsport is the perfect streaming partner, as we would not be able to offer this service ourselves without their expertise and technical equipment. The seamless integration with our scheduling system and the complete handling of payment transactions are also key advantages, says Peter Krappel, organizer of the Vienna Easter Tournament.
One reason for the steadily increasing number of Solidsport partnerships is its collaborative business model. Livestreams and recordings are offered behind a paywall, where viewers can choose between single-game access or a tournament pass. The resulting revenue is shared, making it a highly attractive model for tournament organizers without the financial risk of managing complex livestream production on their own.
More than 120,000 livestreams were broadcast on Solidsport platforms last year. This year alone, over 4,000 will come from German youth basketball. Anyone who wants to watch the stars of tomorrow will inevitably turn to Solidsport and the Basketball-Stars.TV platform.
